(Are you ready to transform your emotional exhaustion into inspiration
that will sustain you in your work forever?)

Welcome to the Therapy Vault Breakfast Club

There Actually IS a Way to Fall Back in Love
With Your Practice (and Surprisingly, It Involves Art)

Dear Dedicated and Heavy-Hearted Healer,

As a therapist, you represent a special group of people who have responded to a calling--a passion to help others heal. I totally celebrate you in your commitment.

Over the years of work with clients, you’ve gained amazing experience and wisdom. You’ve helped many clients reach goals and feel better in their lives. You’ve been truly dedicated and passionate about what you do.

And, though it is very hard to admit, there is a price that comes with this dedication.

With this passionate dedication, comes an accumulation of pain. A saturation of emotion that just slips in no matter how hard you work at good boundaries and self care. This saturation can be deadening and scary. It can even be a source of shame.

This is for you, if you want to feel re-inspired to help others and to reconnect with the passion you once held for your true calling.

You don’t have to sacrifice yourself or your personal life in order to be a dedicated therapist. You don’t have to feel emotionally burdened in order to do good work.

You do need a safe place where you can share and unload the hugely complicated ways that being a therapist affects your life.

One of my therapist clients described it as “feeling like being in a black hole”.

Do you feel like you are living in a black hole?

It can be really alienating when you struggle to show up for clients hour by hour, day by day.

You are expected to give endlessly and expect nothing back but your fee.  When you do have feelings, there is often little time for self-reflection.

Because you’ve been taught to address certain kinds of counter-transference through consultation, your own therapy, or by referring the client to another therapist, sometimes there is a lot of shame associated with having feelings about your clients or your work.

Do You Need a Safe Place to ‘File’ Your Feelings About Your Clients?

And Wouldn’t It Be Great to Really Talk About Your Feelings … With Your Peers?

You help clients endure and overcome pain and suffering.  And, you celebrate client successes and happiness.  But confidentiality rules make it so you can’t go home and talk about it all.  And you can’t let it all out with a friend.

Where do all those feelings go?

What do you do with the grief and fear, anger and shame?

After awhile, it’s natural to just numb yourself from these feelings in order to cope.  Ofer Zur says,  “Psychotherapists are more prone to becoming depressed, substance abusing, or suicidal than any other comparable profession, such as physicians, attorney, accountants, and dentists.”

Going into the Vault is the key…..

The Therapy Vault is a place where you don’t have to feel inadequate for having feelings.

When you show up on our phone calls, you get to meet anonymously with your peers and share your true feelings.

You won’t get evaluated for your techniques or assessments.

You won’t be complaining about your work and getting pity, and you won’t be getting accolades for how you save people’s lives.

It’s really about sharing authentically and honoring the passion with which you approach your work and how you endure coming into such close relationship with people’s pain.

Your own creativity will bloom as you allow genuine expression of so many different feelings. Here, you will find inspiration that you didn’t know you had, and your ability to sustain your practice will thrive.

"I've seen art save lives!"

In 2003 when I opened my private practice, after many years of agency work, I also started teaching therapists how to incorporate art into their work with clients.

I was getting lots of interest, and I decided that I’d design the workshops in the exact way I thought was most helpful.  I made sure to include an hour of experiential time.

This was what therapists started coming for.  They discovered that they could access a sense of freedom and lightness when they shared  art-making with other therapists.

We had projects and sharing that went beyond any one’s expectations.  People’s practices were filling, others were finally losing the weight that they had wanted to, family lives were getting better, a real community was forming.

Ever since then, I’ve been facilitating therapist workshops and trainings exclusively focused on using creative expression to explore the affects that the profession has on our lives. The results have been beautiful.

Wouldn’t it be a relief to know that you have a uniquely intimate way of reconnecting with life affirming passion….and a community to share it with?

“Coming into Lisa’s work is like a big sigh of relief…..”

“……in my work I carry a lot of sadness and trauma.  And I don’t even realize how much I carry around because I’ve girded myself so much… Lisa has created a healing space for sure.”

Pam, MFT who works with cancer patients

“Lisa helped all of us be so real, it was so precious.”

“My very first supervisor said to me, “You can’t keep taking it all home with you or you will die in this profession.” …..So doing art and being in these classes, I have realized how undernourished I was.  It has also helped me play with my grandchildren and in so many other ways.  But mostly it just satisfies my soul.”

Betty, LCSW in practice for 30 years.

"This is such a safe way to reconnect."

“Whether we do something heavy or light, whenever Lisa guides us to do expressive art, it connects me with myself, it makes things better…..she always sends me out with a lighter heart.”

Kim, LCSW in practice for 25 years

“Lisa’s seminar was fantastic!”

It made me feel honored as a therapist.  I felt seen and heard. I felt like this seminar helped me to reconnect with some long-lost creativity that has opened up a whole new world!”

Sharon, MFT, PhD works with abuse survivors

"An opportunity to push beyond my limits."

“It was a wonderfully experiential and an opportunity to stretch beyond my self-imposed limits.  Lisa not only offered me stimulating and dynamic art activities, but also a steady, intuitive wisdom in processing the meaning of the art for me.  Thanks for healing us, Lisa”

Ellen, LCSW 25 years in private practice.

The Therapy Vault Breakfast Club is for you if:

You end up exhausted and closed off to your family after a long day at work with clients.

You question how long you can keep doing this work and think it might be easier to do just about anything else.

You dread seeing clients and feel drained before you even start your work day.

You know you have gifts as a healer, but you can’t seem to really believe in them because it’s been so long since you’ve had time to celebrate them.

You feel closed off from other therapists because you have the sense that they are all better than you at what they do.

You heart feels heavy, and when you want to spread your love, it just isn’t available.

You have earned a sense of trust in your wisdom and ability to heal, but you are afraid that you might not be able to sustain your work for as long as you want to

You’ve reached a point in your career where you want to start to make sense out of all that you’ve done.  You want to do it in a fun, celebratory way that validates your contributions.

Right away, you will receive:

“Deep Freedom:  The Keys to Unlocking Meaningful Creative Expression”, an mp3 audio recording or transcript that will guide you into your creative flow.  It introduces you to your creative self, gives you ways to handle any judgments you have about making art, and provides the perfect context for you to start creating.

Then, every month you will receive:

An inspirational mp3 recording that describes the art activity for the month.  You can listen to Lisa’s in-depth discussion about the activity—why it is so helpful and how it relates to your own creative exploration.  Important tips and reminders will be a big part of the recording to keep you inspired and curious about your self-reflection and self care.

A beautiful e-workbook that shows and describes the art activity.  Complete list of materials, where to find materials you might not have, with step-by-step directions.  Even folks with no art experience will find it easy and fun.

Exclusive access to our Breakfast Club community call 2 weeks after you have received your e-workbook.  The Third Friday morning of the month will be our time to join together and talk about the art experience and the thoughts related to the art.  One special member will be highlighted, intimate conversations will occur through small group discussions, and the warmest, most inspiring sharing will happen. (Don’t worry, if you miss the call, it will be available to you so that you can listen in.)

Special access to the private Breakfast Club Member Gallery and Forum.  Here you will be able to post questions, view others’ art and share your own.  Collaborative ideas will spur you to approach your art in fun and different ways.

3 Continuing Education Units (for California MFT’s and LCSW’s) after you submit your picture in the gallery and take a brief quiz.

Join the community of therapists who are using this essential form of self care for as low as $37 a month.

It’s a commitment to the most special self care you’ve ever done and you won’t regret it.

The cost is less than a half the price for a massage, a therapy session, even a beautiful nice dinner out for 2...and at about $12 a CEU unit, it's a total bargain.

You will feel that it is soooo worth it — promise.

So now it’s time to really make a decision, but first let’s consider a few things.

Can you really share how burdened you feel and have it be okay?

Yes you can share….finally.   And, you deserve the safety and confidentiality that your clients deserve.  You will experience permission and acceptance to have your feelings.

It is my passion and gift to create sacred space where people feel safe enough to create and share.

Your wish for anonymity will be honored 100%

You will find that hearing other therapists’ stories, and seeing the art that expresses their story is soul saving. No one understands the stresses and rewards of being a therapist as well as another therapist.

You will not be judged for your feelings or evaluated on your therapeutic abilities.

Instead, you will be celebrated for your courage.  Your authenticity and willingness to self-reflect will enrich your life and others’ lives.

There is an entire community of like minded therapists, safe and inviting, just waiting to support you.

Do You Have to be an Artist to make this work?

Nope—no experience necessary, really and truly.  All of the art activities come with step-by-step instructions (good pictures included) and require readily available supplies.  They are fun, interesting, and profound.

But, don’t forget that as a therapist you practice creative thinking all the time.

Your thoughts follow the precise pattern that any artist uses in the act of creating.

With simple materials, and just a few guiding principles, you can use your creative thinking to engage in deeply meaningful art activities.

Curiosity is the main pre-requisite—no art experience needed.

Why art? Why Not Just Share Your Thoughts and Feelings?

Art making is experiential.  It comes from a place of deep meaning that doesn’t require translation into language.

When you allow yourself to create from this place, you are tapping into a place of self-intimacy.  Here, in this intimate place, you will discover feelings, ideas, states of being that are rich and life affirming.

As a therapist, you are very well versed in analyzing and talking about experience.

In The Vault, with art, you will be invited to go deeper and connect with yourself and others through creative experience.

You don't need MORE self care, just the right self care.

Self care is critical.  It is what healthy human beings do to cope with life stress.  BUT…….

The self care you do manage to fit into your busy life, probably isn’t aimed at acknowledging the feelings you accumulate through your work.  There’s a myth that says, “If you do enough self care and you do it well, you will feel like and be a better therapist”.

Until your self care regimen includes a component that helps you use tools to validate what makes your work so hard and share how it affects your life in such intense ways, you will not be able to truly benefit from all of your other self care activities.

Going into the Vault is the key.

Your moment to decide has arrived....

Join others who have decided to find a safe place and an inspiring way to allow themselves to feel.

Give yourself permission to express feelings about your work and get re-inspired.

I am absolutely available to answer any questions that you may have.  Just email me:  Lisa@TheTherapyVault.com
